About Me – Aparecida Maria Johnson
My name is Aparecida Maria dos Johnson, but I am generally known as Maria. I was born in Brazil, but have lived in the United Kingdom for almost 30 years.
I understand how important it is to have a safe, supportive space where you feel truly heard. With a background in counselling and a MSc in Mental Health and Wellbeing, I bring both knowledge and compassion to my work.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw from different approaches — including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, Gestalt, and person-centred therapy. This means our sessions are shaped around what feels most helpful for you, rather than a one-size-fits-all method.
I am an Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), which means I follow strict professional and ethical guidelines. Above all, my aim is to walk alongside you with care, respect, and understanding as you move towards healing and growth.
Counselling is also available in Portuguese, making space for clients who wish to express themselves in this language.
